Everything you need to know before traveling by camper for the first time

Traveling by camper for the first time is an experience different from any other type of trip. The possibility of deciding on the go where to stop, which route to follow, or how long to stay at each destination turns every getaway into a true adventure.

If you are thinking about renting a camper and have doubts about how this type of trip works, here we answer some of the most common questions.

Is it difficult to drive a camper?

This is one of the first concerns for those who have never traveled in a camper, but the reality is that driving a camper is much simpler than many people imagine.

Campers have dimensions similar to those of a large van, so driving is very comfortable both in the city and on the road. If you are used to driving a car, within a few kilometers you will feel completely familiar with the vehicle.

At Somos Camper Spain, we want you to travel with complete peace of mind. That is why all our bookings include full insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance, so that you and your companions are always protected against any technical incident during the trip.

In addition, renting a camper with us is very simple. You only need to be over 25 years old, have a valid type B driving license or higher, with a minimum of two years of experience. If you are not a resident of the European Union, you will also need to present an international driving license and a valid passport.

Where can you sleep in Cantabria and in Spain?

Another frequent doubt for beginners is about overnight stays. In Spain, there are many specific areas for campers and motorhomes, as well as campsites and other designated spaces to spend the night with complete tranquility.

Cantabria and the rest of northern Spain have a wide network of overnight areas located both on the coast and in mountain areas, which allows organizing very varied routes without difficulty.

It is important to remember that camping is not always allowed, so it is advisable to know the difference between parking and camping and always respect the regulations of each municipality. Before each stage, it is also recommended to check the available areas to better organize the route and make the most of your time.

What does a rental camper include?

One of the great advantages of renting a camper is that you do not need to prepare a long list of equipment before leaving on your trip. At Somos Camper Spain, we provide you with fully equipped vehicles so that you only have to worry about choosing the destination.

All our campers include bedding and pillows, complete kitchenware, a Moka pot, a cleaning kit, and chemical tablets for the toilet. This way, you can travel comfortably from the first day without having to bring these items from home.

In addition, our campers offer practical and functional space for cooking, resting, and organizing your luggage throughout the route. This makes each trip a much more comfortable experience, especially for couples, families, or groups of friends who want to explore northern Spain with total freedom.
